Mike began his career as a staff meteorologist at KTIV-TV in Sioux City, Iowa, where he was promoted to chief meteorologist in 1982 and held the position until 1990. He then moved to WTVR-TV in Richmond, Virginia, as chief meteorologist in 1990, winning his first Emmy award there. From 1993 to 2006, he served as chief meteorologist at WLVI-TV in Boston, earning eight Emmy Awards and three Associated Press awards. Since December 2006, Mike has been with WCVB-TV’s StormTeam 5, where he anchors weather for all evening and late newscasts, and has received 17 regional Emmy Awards for his weather coverage and technology reporting. In 2017, he was recognized as one of the “Coolest Meteorologists in America” by the Washington Post. Additionally, Mike is involved in the community as a guest science lecturer at Boston-area schools and universities and has served as chairman of the Chornobyl Children Project USA.
